Heartstopper Cast Celebrates Pride Ahead of New Season
Heartstopper stars Kit Connor, and Joe Locke step out for Pride month and surprise fans with an appearance at a DC Pride celebration.
Members of the Heartstopper cast took to Instagram to show their support for Pride Month. Among the images he shared, Kit Connor included a photo of him and his co-star Joe Locke on a float at DC Pride.
Fans are touched by the actors’ open support and engagement with the queer community. Joe Locke also shared some of his favorite moments from the parade. Locke is pictured in a shirt that states, “TRANS RIGHTS ARE HUMAN RIGHTS.” Aubrey Plaza supported the duo by sharing Joe Locke’s Instagram post.
Kit Connor and Joe Locke gained social media fame through their respective roles as Nick Nelson and Charlie Spring in Netflix’s queer coming-of-age series Heartstopper. Originally a webcomic and graphic novel by author Alice Oseman, the content was adapted for the screen to major success.
Many queer viewers identified with the characters of the series, which also features lesbian, bisexual, and transgender representation. The overall light-hearted and sweet tone of Nick and Charlier’s relationship is healing to viewers, while the struggles and real challenges of growing up queer are also recognized.

The first season of Heartstopper currently maintains a 100% rating on the popular review website Rotten Tomatoes, as well as a 96% audience score based on 2,500+ reviews.
Season 2 of Heartstopper is set to premiere on Netflix on August 3, 2023.
