Taylor Swift Sets Spotify Firsts, Makes History Quickly in 2023
Taylor Swift’s eighth studio album Folklore reached over five billion streams on Spotify, making it her fifth album to do so. Swift is the first artist in history to accomplish this.
Taylor Swift is no stranger to breaking records. Four of her previous albums, 1989 (2014), Reputation (2017), Lover (2019), and Midnights (2022) hit over five billion Spotify streams. On June 12, Swift’s Folklore became her fifth album to reach these numbers. Pop Base posted the news on Twitter.

Of Swift’s five albums with over five billion Spotify streams, four fall under the pop genre. Folklore, however, hit over five billion streams as an indie folk album. This came as a slight surprise to some fans as Swift has been more deeply involved in creating pop music since shifting from country. The commercial success of Folklore showcased Swift’s versatility as an artist.
Pop Base also announced Swift’s continuously rising Spotify streams for 2023. She has reached 10 billion streams on the platform since the start of the year and is the fastest artist to do so.

While making history on Spotify, Swift continues to perform on The Eras Tour with Pittsburgh, PA as her next stop for the weekend.
