The “Call Me Maybe” popstar was interacting with fans on the day of the announcement via Instagram stories. Fans were asking her questions regarding her new music and a potential album drop. Rae Jepsen’s most recent album, The Loneliest Time, was released on October 21, 2022.
In the past, she has released “b-side projects,” adding to previously released music and giving fans more songs in the discography. Rae Jepsen did this in 2020, releasing Dedicated Side B as an addition to Dedicated (2019). However, she took it to Instagram stories on Thursday, stating her upcoming projects will be “less of b-sides project. . .” A fan reposted the story on Twitter.
The new, upcoming single and more of her recent music have been a reflection of Rae Jepsen’s growth in the industry. Her album, The Loneliest Time, was a more sentimental album, according to the Collegiate Times. It helped her use music to reflect on and question topics of love, companionship, and loss.
