A24 Gives Priscilla Presley a Voice in New Trailer
The popular entertainment company, A24, released a trailer on June 21 revealing that Elvis Presley will return to the screen. Only this time, viewers will get a look into the perspective of Priscilla Presley.
This satisfying new angle of Elvis’ career will come to theaters in October under the title Priscilla. The focus will be on the long-ignored Priscilla, giving fans a glimpse into her personal life. The events that take place in the film are inspired by her own memoir, Elvis and Me. The film was written and directed by Sofia Coppola.
The trailer showcases the juxtaposition between Priscilla’s life as an ordinary teenage girl and the glamour after meeting Elvis.
This film comes after a rise of interest in Elvis’ wife’s life, following the release of Baz Luhrmann’s Elvis. Many viewers questioned the relationship between Elvis and the younger Priscilla, which was glossed over in Luhrmann’s adaptation. Whether or not this will be explored in the film is unclear.
The release of the trailer has caused controversy on Twitter. Many are concerned about the way the film will approach the relationship between Elvis and Priscilla. Others are waiting to see how it plays out.

damn i wonder how sofia coppola, a filmmaker who has been making movies about both the appeal and the skewed power dynamics in various questionable relationships her whole career, will approach this 🤔
According to some, Priscilla comments on the problematic nature of her and Elvis’ relationship in her memoir. This has led some to believe that the film will take the issue seriously.
damn i wonder how priscilla, a movie based off of priscilla presleys memoir in which she talks extensively about the skewed power dynamic in her relationship with elvis, will approach this
