Maya Hawke unveiled her rendition of Carly Simon’s song, “Coming Around Again” in honor of the musician’s birthday. The iconic singer celebrated her milestone eightieth birthday on June 25.

Maya Hawke (Asteroid City) took to Instagram to announce a brand new cover of Carly Simon’s 1987 track “Coming Around Again.” The song is emotional, as Simon sings from a broken heart. She states, “You know, that’s so much a part of life, being able to embrace the broken heart, not just cast it off as having no meaning or trying to get rid of it.”

The song is the title track of her thirteenth studio album. Many fans of the rom-com genre may remember Simon’s music plays in Nora Ephron’s film, romantic drama, Heartburn. The Mike Nichols-directed picture starred Meryl Streep (Mamma Mia!), Jack Nicholson (Something’s Gotta Give), and Stockard Channing (Grease).

Simon’s discography has continued to permeate pop culture. The Rock and Roll Hall of Famer is most notably known for her iconic song “You’re So Vain.” Kate Hudson (Almost Famous) performed an incredible cover of the track in the romantic comedy, How To Lose A Guy in 10 Days (2003).

In addition to her famous song, Simon won an Academy Award for Best Original Song for “Let the River Run,” which appeared in Working Girl (1988). The film starred Harrison Ford (Indiana Jones and the Dial of Destiny), Melanie Griffith (Something Wild), Joan Cusack (School of Rock), and Sigourney Weaver (Avatar).

Hawke’s version is soothing for the listener. She did an incredible job covering the beautiful song. The track appears as a part of Amazon Original.

Congratulations to Maya Hawke on a gorgeous arrangement and a happy belated birthday to Carly Simon. Hawke’s latest film, Asteroid City, is now playing in theatres.
