New You Season Five Teaser Hints at Return of Jenna Ortega
The new You season five teaser gives fans hope over the return of Jenna Ortega as Ellie in the hit Netflix series.
The series, which first made its Netflix debut in September 2018, is a psychological thriller that has kept fans at the edge of their seats throughout each episode. While the past four seasons of the series have been a hit, fans eagerly anticipate season five’s release, hoping it will answer any remaining storylines. Netflix released a teaser of the fifth and final season of the series at their Tudum event in Brazil on June 17, which hinted at the return of fan-favorite characters.
Penn Badgley, who stars as serial killer Joe Goldberg, stated, “there are many loose ends from Joe’s past.” The teaser featured various characters that have appeared throughout the series, including actress Jenna Ortega, who interprets Ellie. However, the actor would not reveal precisely whom Joe will encounter again in the fifth and final season of the series.
Luckily for fans, Ortega has shared that she would be open to returning to the hit series. In 2019, Ortega spoke with Teen Vogue and shared that “It would be amazing to see Ellie come back and take control of her life.” Furthermore, Ortega touched on how her role as Ellie is relatable as “teens go through that angsty stage.”
Sera Gamble, one of the series’ writers, has yet to specify a return date for the debut of the fifth and final season on Netflix. However, executive producers Michael Foley and Justin W. Lo will be in charge of the series as it wraps up. Regardless, it is clear that fans are curiously waiting to see how Joe Goldberg’s story will come to an end and, more importantly, which characters will be making a reappearance.
