Lauren Jauregui Talks Recent EP, Reveals New Album Coming Soon

Singer Lauren Jauregui gave insight into her May EP, In Between, and revealed that she has been working on a new album.

The former Fifth Harmony member has been keeping busy in the music world, releasing two EPs and four singles.

On May 26, Jauregui’s released her seven-track sophomore EP.

In an interview Thursday with Galore Magazine, Jauregui shared the inspiration behind the EP and the rest of her discography.

“These songs have actually been sitting with me since 2018/2019,” she stated. “I think the inspiration for all of my music is always pretty personal, introspective, and reflective. I drew from experiences that I was going through for songs like Em(oceans), Trust Issues, & Always Love, and then I try to relate the themes in such a way that anyone listening can see themselves in my experiences.”

Jauregui also revealed that she has been working on more music this year and hinted at a possible tour.

“I’m working on my album, so very much in the studio and just connecting with myself and life and allowing myself to live in the ‘In Between,’” she stated. “Definitely going to be taking these songs on the road as well.”

Jauregui is no stranger to the music scene. In 2012, she was thrown into the spotlight after joining Fifth Harmony, which was formed on The X Factor and took home third place.

The group signed a joint record deal with Simon Cowell’s Syco Records and L.A. Reid’s Epic Records after the series. They continued performing and making hits until an indefinite hiatus in 2018 so the members could pursue solo careers.

However, being a public figure often comes with hate and criticism on social media. In the Galore Magazine interview, Jauregui spoke about the downside of stardom and her current mentality.

“Most of what other people think or judge about someone is actually thoughts and demons of their own that they’re facing and projecting to feel better about themselves at the moment,” she stated. “I know who I am now and no one can tell me otherwise, especially not strangers on the internet that I do not know personally.”

Jauregui added that she hopes listeners take away from her EP “a better understanding of who I am and who they are and some songs that can accompany them through life and make them feel seen and held and shake their asses.”
