In February, Cameron shared with Paper Magazine that the album will be titled Celestial Bodies and will include singles “Breakfast,” “Bad Idea,” and a cover of Edwyn Collins’ “A Girl Like You,” titled “Girl Like Me.” She also told Variety there will also be a collaboration with a “dream artist.”
Cameron revealed that she narrowed the tracklist down from a collection of 60 songs. Although the number of tracks on the album is still unknown, she hinted in the interview that it will likely be high.
“I’m trying to get the number of songs on the album really high, but Columbia is being reasonable. I’m being unreasonable,” she stated. “I’ve got all my favorites and most of them have been sent to the mixer and finished and the ones that aren’t I just left the studio last night at midnight while I’m in L.A.”
Cameron signed to Columbia’s Disruptor Records label in March 2018, but her music really took off after her 2022 single “Boyfriend” made its way to TikTok. Before having an album under her belt, she was awarded Outstanding Breakthrough Music Artist at the 2023 GLAAD Media Awards, New Artist of the Year at the 2022 American Music Awards, and Favorite Breakout Artist at the 2023 Nickelodeon’s Kids’ Choice Awards.
After the album releases, fans can look forward to seeing Cameron perform supporting shows with the aforementioned “dream artist” as well as a tour of her own.
“Hopefully, I’ll be popping in for a few days for their tour,” Cameron told Variety. “I have to get my album out before I can go on my tour so I’m going to warm up and do some shows with them. I’ll probably start my big tour sometime next year, but I’ll be doing smaller shows before then.”
Follow Cameron on Instagram and Twitter to stay updated with the album and tour announcements. In the meantime, you can listen to her 2022 EP, Girl Like Me, on all streaming platforms.
