Simu Liu released a music video for his new single “Don’t.” He described his inspiration behind the single and its meaning.

Barbie actor Simu Liu announced the release of his single “Don’t” to his Instagram followers on April 7 which in the post, he described on the meaning behind the single.

The caption read, “this song was written for all of the hard times in my life where i have questioned my worth and felt like an imposter.it is for every single person who ever has felt alone, different, heartbroken or hopeless. you are worthy. you belong. you MATTER.”

The music video for the single was released Monday. Its black and white visuals, as well as Liu’s facial expressions convey feelings of sadness and loneliness.

Many of his fans took to social media to express their love for the song and their excitement about the future of his music career.

However, some fans on Twitter were not impressed with Liu’s singing ability. “Don’t” is not Liu’s first time demonstrating his singing talents to the world, so this mixed reaction came as a surprise to some.

On the Tonight Show Starring Jimmy Fallon, Liu sang 50 Cent’s “In Da Club” with a country twist. Despite being the only non-artist there, he seemed to hold his own. The Musical Genre Challenge provided an interesting combination for the actor and fans praised him for being multi-talented.

A peek into Simu Liu’s reality is shown in the music video for “Don’t,” which also shows his versatility in different careers. We can’t wait to see what else he has in store for his music.
