Bratz announced its first celebrity collaboration with Kylie Jenner, causing many mixed feelings among the public to surface.

Bratz revealed that the brand will be recreating Kylie Jenner’s most memorable looks with its Mini Bratz collection. However, since this is the brand’s first celebrity collaboration, fans took to Twitter to express their mixed feelings. They were hoping Bratz would collaborate with a Black celebrity rather than Jenner.

The public noted that Bratz is largely inspired by women of color, and should have collaborated accordingly.

One user stated, “they do a collab with a white women that’s known to portray black features, skin color and black culture instead of just getting notable black woman.”

For instance, some fans immediately thought an Aaliyah Bratz doll would have been a perfect collaboration. Other celebrities Twitter suggested were Rihanna, Megan Thee Stallion, and Zendaya.

There have been more complaints about the Bratz and Jenner collab, particularly how tan the doll’s skin looks. Fans suggested that the company should have brightened her skin tone to be more reminiscent of Jenner’s race.

In local stores and online sites such as Target, Walmart, and Amazon, these mini-dolls will begin selling for nearly $10. The Jenner mini-dolls are also selling on Bratz’s official site for the same price.

The site describes the mini-dolls and the accessories in full length:

“Discover all 14 unique collectibles, including 6 ‘Bratzified’ Kylie mini figures from key moments in her life spanning streetwear to red carpet glam. Also collect mini Bratz accessories with a special Kylie touch like a convertible cruiser and even Kylie’s dog Norman!”

Each pack contains two mini-dolls enclosed in trapezoidal packaging, and buyers will not know which one they receive since “each package is blind,” according to the site.

The Mini Bratz collection has been named “Mini Bratz X Kylie Jenner Series 1.”

On the Bratz Instagram announcement, the post closed with “stay tuned to see what’s next in the Bratz x Kylie collab,” accompanied by the eyes and lip emojis.

It can be assumed that Bratz will release more Jenner mini-dolls in the future. Could Jenner’s stunning red Haider Ackermann gown from the 2023 Met Gala be included? Fans can only wait and see.

Due to Bratz dolls being greatly reminiscent of Black women and Black culture, though, we hope to see celebrity collaborations in the near future that appropriately reflect this as well.
