Keke Palmer Teases Starring Role in Usher’s New Music Video
Keke Palmer teased her starring role in Usher’s new music video, “Boyfriend.” The video will be released on August 16.
Palmer shared this sneak peek with her fans via X. The sultry teaser reveals a line from the song, “Somebody said that your boyfriend’s lookin’ for me.”

While the teaser does not reveal much about what the entire music video entails, it is assumed that the artist and actress have come together following Palmer’s relationship drama with Darius Jackson. Jackson is the father of Palmer’s son, Leodis (Leo).
Jackson outfit-shamed his then-girlfriend for wearing a black bodysuit under a sheer Givenchy dress. The outfit was worn at an Usher performance, where the artist is seen serenading the actress. Palmer’s ex-boyfriend deleted his social media following the backlash he faced for his comment, “It’s the outfit tho.. you a mom.”

Jackson continued to elaborate on his original comment, stating, “We live in a generation where a man of the family doesn’t want the wife & mother to his kids to showcase booty cheeks to please others & he gets told how much of a hater he is. This is my family & my representation. I have standards & morals to what I believe. I rest my case.”
On August 7, Usher took it upon himself to explain how pop culture interactions can be fun and light-hearted without any underlying malintent. The artist brushed aside the negativity as he believed the moment shared between him and Palmer was simply celebrity fun. Palmer, in response to her ex-boyfriend, decided to leave the negativity out of her night as well and rather commended Usher’s performance on social media.
Roughly a month later, Usher and Palmer came together to film the “Boyfriend” music video. It seems as if the song and accompanying video are in lieu of the drama that ensued.
On X, Usher also posted the teaser and accompanied the short clip with the caption, “When fantasies become reality…”

The trailer to the official music video can be viewed below. It features Palmer enjoying a luxurious style of life, honing in on independence. She is seen sipping from champagne, admiring herself in the mirror, and strutting with confidence as Usher walks down a red-lit hallway from a backstage area. The video will be released in full on Wednesday, August 16.
