Beyoncé showed some love for Lizzo during her Renaissance concert on Monday, despite the ongoing lawsuits and allegations against the singer.

A social media video from the concert captured Queen Bey showing love to Lizzo during the song “Break My Soul (The Queens Remix).” During this version of the single, Beyoncé lists off influential female musicians throughout history, and Lizzo is included in the lineup.

On August 1, three former dancers sued Lizzo, Big Grrrl Big Touring, Inc. (BGBT), and the captain of Lizzo’s dance team, Shirlene Quigley, on several charges. These charges include alleged sexual harassment, alleged religious harassment, alleged racial harassment, disability discrimination, assault, and false imprisonment. You can read more about the allegations against Lizzo, BGBT, and Quigley here.

That same night, Beyoncé left Lizzo’s name out of the song at her concert in Boston. However, she showed love to Lizzo on Monday, again shouting her out during the song. The video captures Beyoncé yelling out, “Lizzo! I love you, Lizzo!”

Fans on social media were conflicted about Beyoncé’s supposed re-indorsement of Lizzo amidst these lawsuits and allegations. Some were upset while others are now supporting Lizzo because of Bey.

One Twitter user replied to the concert video, “if beyonce forgives lizzo , so do we,” garnering 180 likes in support. Another user replied to that tweet and received 584 likes, asking, “Who is we bro.”

Lizzo responded to the allegations on August 3, stating they are “false” and “sensationalized stories.” She also indicated that she is “not the villain” she is being portrayed as.

“My work ethic, morals and respectfulness have been questioned. Usually I choose not to respond to false allegations but these are as unbelievable as they sound and too outrageous to not be addressed,” Lizzo stated on social media. “With passion comes hard work and high standards. Sometimes I have to make hard decisions but it’s never my intention to make anyone feel uncomfortable or like they aren’t valued as an important part of the team.”

We send love and support to all the affected cast members, dancers, and employees. We commend the courage of everyone coming forward and using their voices to share these experiences.
