Victoria’s Secret Fashion Show Is Back and Better Than Ever
After a five-year hiatus, the Victoria’s Secret Fashion Show will return with a twist. Instead of stick-thin women in push-up bras and 30-pound angel wings, the models will be a body-inclusive line of women in more modest clothes in order to be “the world’s leading advocate for women.”
When one hears the name “Victoria’s Secret Fashion Show,” many people think of Candice Swanepoel, Gisele Bündchen, and Kendall Jenner in skimpy outfits and long angel wings. However, this will no longer be the case.

The reason why Victoria’s Secret is reinventing its image and, specifically, its fashion shows is because they were under fire for so many years because of “the lack of diversity on its runways.” Now, with the reinvention, Victoria’s Secret can uplift and empower all women of different shapes, colors, and sizes.
Victoria Secret has been criticized recently for the lack of body type diversity on the runway. As inclusivity continues to be a requirement for buyers, I wonder if VS will ever expand their size range in their products creating the need for plus-size models #smudesign https://t.co/dYuFunNwAA

According to VS Press Room, “a group of 20 innovative global creatives who will conceive four fashion curations from the vibrant cities of Bogota, Lagos, London and Tokyo. With the creative freedom to conceptualize, produce, and stage a collection that is all their own, the dynamic artistic forces from the fashion, film, design, music, and visual fields will converge to showcase their work alongside iconic custom Victoria’s Secret designs.”
The fashion show will be a mixture of video and a live runway show. The video portion will be a mini-documentary explaining Victoria’s Secret’s new reinvention and mission to celebrate diverse women. The fashion show portion, on the other hand, will display its new image.
Models like Julia Fox, Gigi Hadid, Emily Ratajkowski, Winnie Harlow, and others are set to walk down the runway. Iconic models like Adriana Lima came out of retirement for this special showing. She confirmed that the 2018 VS Fashion show would be her last walk but will now be seen in the 2023 show.
