Usher is set to steal the spotlight as the headliner of the Super Bowl LVIII halftime show.

Last Sunday marked a momentous occasion as Usher, in collaboration with Apple Music, Roc Nation, and the National Football League, revealed the news of his Super Bowl headline performance.

A picture featuring a flashy grin, complete with “LVIII” labeled grills on his teeth, ignited an uproar of excitement among fans.

Apple Music also shared a video on X, showing Usher receiving an urgent call from Kim Kardashian, who informs him about his headlining spot.

According to the NFL, Usher expressed his excitement about gaining the opportunity to headline the 2024 Super Bowl.

“It’s an honor of a lifetime to finally check a Super Bowl performance off my bucket list. I can’t wait to bring the world a show unlike anything else they’ve seen from me before,” said Usher. “Thank you to the fans and everyone who made this opportunity happen. I’ll see you real soon.”

“Usher is an icon whose music has left an indelible mark on the cultural landscape throughout his career, we couldn’t be more excited to have him headline this year’s Apple Music Super Bowl Halftime Show,” said Seth Dudowsky, NFL Head of Music. “We look forward to working with Usher, Roc Nation and Apple Music to bring fans another Halftime Show for the history books.”

Usher’s upcoming performance is the latest result of Jay-Z entertainment agency, Roc Nation, increasing the quality of the Super Bowl halftime shows for the NFL after their signed partnership in 2019.

In a statement, Jay-Z announced that Usher is the best decision for the Super Bowl.

“Usher is the ultimate artist and showman. Ever since his debut at the age of 15, he’s been charting his own unique course,” Jay-Z mentioned in the statement. “Beyond his flawless singing and exceptional choreography, Usher bares his soul. His remarkable journey has propelled him to one of the grandest stages in the world. I can’t wait to see the magic.”

This will be his second performance at the Super Bowl. In 2011, Usher performed alongside the Black Eyed Peas when the group headlined the halftime show.

The halftime show of the Super Bowl is one of the most highly viewed music events of the year. According to Billboard, Rihanna had the most watched halftime performance in February, with over 121 million viewers.

Past Super Bowl headliners include Beyoncé, Janet Jackson, Prince, Lady Gaga, Michael Jackson, Katy Perry, and Justin Timberlake. Some years, artists perform solo, and other years, artists light the stage up as a group, such as the 2022 hip-hop tribute with Dr. Dre, Kendrick Lamar, Mary J. Blige, etc.

The Super Bowl will be on February 11 at the Las Vegas’ Allegiant Stadium. On the same day, Usher will release his anticipated album Coming Home, a follow-up to his 2016 album, Hard II Love.
