The Drew Barrymore Show has lost its head writers following Barrymore’s actions during the Workers Guild of America writer’s strike.

Drew Barrymore’s head writers for her talk show, The Drew Barrymore Show, have refused to return to work, following the writers’ strike. The program is in scrambles to find new lead writers after their head trio of co-head writers have turned down the offer to continue on the show.

The Drew Barrymore Show has found itself to be the center of controversy, following Barrymore’s actions during the writers’ strike. These writers include Chelsea White, Cristina Kinon, and Liz Koe, who have been working on the talk show since its start.

During the Workers Guild of America’s writers strike, the co-writing trio could often be seen at the front of the picket line. They would camp out in front of CBS’s New York City location on several occasions.

Before the strike had even ended, Barrymore announced the return of her talk show. This led the women to express their disappointment to their boss. After receiving wide public backlash, Barrymore, along with several other show hosts, postponed the return of her show to air.

Barrymore posted to her social media accounts with the caption, “I have listened to everyone, and I am making the decision to pause the show’s premiere until the strike is over.”

She then went on to apologize to those she might have hurt, along with her team who was affected in the process. Barrymore wrote, “I have no words to express my deepest apologies to anyone I have hurt and, of course, to our incredible team who works on the show and has made it what it is today. We really tried to find our way forward.”

Despite the reversal in her decision, the damage between her decision and her writers was done. The Writers Guild of America has since been able to come to an agreement with those on the picket line, ultimately ending the strike. Barrymore has taken accountability for her actions and apologized on her social media platforms on numerous occasions.

The Drew Barrymore Show is currently set to re-release on October 16, and it is unclear at the time if her loss of head writers will push that back.
