The trailer for Sofia Coppola’s new film, Priscilla, dropped Tuesday. It highlights the turbulent and unseen relationship between Elvis and Priscilla Presley.

Priscilla was made by A24 Studios and is based on the novel Elvis and Me by Priscilla Presley.

The film gives a detailed look into the relationship between Elvis and Priscilla. It highlights glimpses of their lives together, including their first meeting in Germany, their Las Vegas wedding, and the birth of their daughter, Lisa Marie, which are all teased in the film’s trailer.

The couple’s most iconic moments together are seen throughout the film, along with their divorce. The film stars Cailee Spaeny as Priscilla Presley and Jacob Elordi as Elvis Presley.

The film centers itself around the perspective of Priscilla Presley being the wife of the king. Priscilla comes as a counter to the 2022 musical drama Elvis, which starred Austin Butler and received several nominations along with global recognition.

The film looks into “the unseen side of the great American myth.” In addition, the film dives into the two’s relationship and their age gap, along with the tumultuous relationship of being the wife of the king of rock and roll. They also share the turbulent relationship of being a rock and roll wife.

At this year’s Venice Film Festival, Priscilla received a seven-minute standing ovation following the premiere. Spaeny and Elordi were also in attendance at this year’s festival and were granted a SAG-AFTRA interim agreement to promote the film amid the strike. Spaeny was also awarded the prize of Best Actress at the Venice Film Festival.

Priscilla Presley was in attendance at the Venice Film Festival and shared her experience with the film. “It’s very difficult to sit and watch a film about you, about your life, about your love.” Presley also shared with reporters that she spoke “a couple of times” with Coppola throughout the film’s making.

Priscilla is Coppola’s first feature since her film On the Rocks. The film also received a whopping 95% Rotten Tomatoes rating based on critics’ reviews.
