Diddy Donates a Generous $1 Million to His Alma Mater ‘The Most Important Black Educational Institution Ever’

Philanthropist, rapper, and Award-winning artist Sean “Diddy” Combs made a promise at the 2022 Bet Awards that he would make several donations to HBCUs, and one of those donations was to his alma mater, Howard University.

At the 2022 Bet Awards philanthropist, rapper, and Award-winning artist Sean “Diddy” Combs promised to make several donations to HBCU.

A year later, Combs took the stage at Howard’s Homecoming this past Friday. He not only performed his hit records but also donated a generous $1 million to his alma mater.

Furthermore, in an interview with ABC7 Combs called Howard “the most important Black educational institution ever.”

“I feel like we need to keep on sowing seeds. We got a lot of alumni in here, so I think we all got to keep coming home and we got to keep on investing in this university and all HBCUs. We got to take care of y’all you feel me.” Diddy continued, “I aint gon lie I didn’t really have no show prepared. I just wanted to come and drop off this donation and have some fun with y’all.”

Undoubtedly, Combs looks at his alma mater very fondly. “It remains crucial that we strive to protect and uphold their(Howard University) legacy,” he stated.

Moreover, Combs reinforced his commitment to the institution, stating that his donation is “not just a financial contribution.” Combs continued, “It’s about ensuring that HBCUs continue to receive the support they rightfully deserve.”

“This is such a tremendously meaningful gift to Howard University, and we are deeply grateful,” Ben Vinson III, Howard University President stated. “His gift will have a profound impact on our students, paving the way for future leaders. We are honored to have Sean Combs as a part of our Bison family.”

Additionally, this isn’t Comb’s first time donating to Howard. According to Hilltop, he previously donated to the School of Business in 2016
