Reviving Concealer Lips: Sofia Richie Grainge’s New Makeup Routine
The millennial aesthetic is making a stylish comeback, and Sofia Richie Grainge is leading the way with the latest trend: concealer lips.
The trends of the early 2000s have been making a comeback for a while, but the trend that initially surprised people is back. The technique involves using concealer or ultra-light lipstick applied directly onto the lips. Wherever you went, this look was everywhere. Celebrities, including Kim Kardashian and Rihanna, were among those who used to wear this look.

On TikTok, the early 2000s’ lip trend has been poked fun at with reaction videos. Now, thanks to Sofia Richie, it may become a staple look in multiple makeup routines. In the middle of October, she posted a video on how to achieve the perfect glossy fall lip. The video begins like a typical makeup routine, until she surprisingly takes out the concealer for her lips.
She wanted to recreate the ‘pumpkin spice lips’ look tutorial she saw on her “For You” page using YSL Candy Glaze lip gloss sticks in Scenic Brown and Showcasing Nude. She loves the product for its hydration and lightweight application on the lips, making it easy to carry around.

First, she dabs the deeper shade product onto her lips and proceeds to blends it out. Then, Richie Grainge layered on the lighter nude shade, going a bit heavier. Once all the color is evened out, she takes out the concealer. Using the product, she takes a small amount and applies it to her finger before dabbing it onto her upper and lower lip. Afterward, she blends it to create a subtle contour.

The rest of her glam was kept simple in classic Sofia Richie Grainge fashion. Her eyelashes were long and dark, paired with a light bronze eyeshadow that helped give the “pumpkin spice” look she was aiming for.
The result? A stylish and understated makeup look that’s a world away from the heavy Y2K cakey styles. Concealer on the lips may just make a comeback after all.
