It’s time to pull out the credit cards. Phoebe Philo’s new namesake fashion collection is finally out, and it is even more Philo-esque than we expected.

The shock factor is here, and it’s addicting. Phoebe Philo has done it again. She designed an apparel and accessories collection guaranteed to max out all our cards. Philo’s new collection was released yesterday, and it’s already nearly completely sold out.

Since news of Philo’s plans to launch her own brand in July 2021, Philophiles (her dedicated followers) everywhere agonized over the anticipation for her first-ever collection. The beginning of October was the first time since 2021 that news of Philo’s eponymous brand re-emerged. A post on the brand’s official Instagram urged followers to sign up to be notified of the brand’s release date. Then again, in the second to last week of the same month, the brand’s account posted more sneak peek images from the soon-to-be-released collection.

The collection itself is exquisitely Phoebe Philo — loud remnants of Philo’s “Old Celine” style with notes of a sophisticated edge. A black satin viscose twill skirt with hand-combed embroidery, sliced to give an airy effect on the pencil skirt variation. The design mimics the look of cowboy chaps, the hand-combed embroidery on the edges of the satin skirt adding to the impact—a leather bomber jacket with an attachable scarf. The jacket’s scarf can be clipped onto the jacket. The exterior of both the jacket and scarf is made up of soft, oiled leather. Both pieces of the collection are only a glimpse of Philo’s exceptional ingenuity.

In true luxury fashion, especially in the case of Phoebe Philo’s designs, the prices are unimaginably high. An XL calf leather tote with suede lining is priced at $8,500, and a large organza brooch with a sterling silver clasp will cost customers $1,100. Nonetheless, the price is a reflection of the brand’s ethical awareness. “As our creative process and supply chain begin to stabilise, we are working to manage our impact by continuously measuring, monitoring and reducing it,” read the brand’s impact statement. “We are committed to producing fashion with an awareness of the material issues of overconsumption, waste, and the impact of our supply chain,” the statement continued.

Overall, it was a successful first launch for Phoebe Philo. The positive reaction from consumers is formidable. The fashion industry is excited to see where Philo takes her brand in the future. You can explore and purchase Philo’s new collection on the official website.
