New Mean Girls Musical Film Trailer Is Released
Calling all Broadway fans, are you ready? The first trailer for the Mean Girls musical film was released.
On Wednesday, November 8, Paramount Pictures gave fans a sneak peek of the Mean Girls musical based on the Broadway adaptation.
Directed by Samantha Jayne, Tina Fey returns as her character, Ms. Norbury, and writes the screenplay as she did for the original 2004 film.
However, the rest of the cast is new to the Mean Girls franchise. Musician and actor Reneé Rapp is to portray Queen Regina George. According to NBC News, Rapp first performed as George during the musical’s Broadway run. Ashley Park, who portrayed Gretchen Weiners in the Broadway show, appeared in the trailer, this time as a French teacher. The proceeding actress to embody Gretchen Weiners is Bebe Wood, and Christopher Briney takes on the role of Aaron Samuels.
Iconic moments in the original film, including the “Jingle Bell Rock” dance and the pink “Burn Book,” appeared in the trailer.

Although the “Plastics” are back, unfortunately, not everyone thinks their return looks “fetch.”
The film’s promotion itself as a musical was noticeably lacking its original songs. Fans are left wondering why the trailer was soundtracked by Olivia Rodrigo’s “get him back!” and not music written by Tina Fey.
songs that could’ve been used from the musical itself instead of olivia #MeanGirls

Another X user tweeted, “So true Mean Girls Musical, ‘Get Him Back’ by Olivia Rodrigo is a banger. Wait, don’t you have songs? Why aren’t you emphasizing your songs? You’re a musical, right?”
Fans also felt the trailer lacked transparency regarding the new Mean Girls being a musical adaption.
uhhh, why does this trailer hide the fact that it’s a MUSICAL? why am I only hearing Olivia Rodrigo??? https://t.co/ekThMryuWe
