Discover Latina Beauty With Adrienne Bailon-Houghton’s New Docuseries The Foundation of Belleza
In conjunction with Sephora and Peacock, actress and television host Adrienne Bailon-Houghton’s new series, The Foundation of Belleza, is hitting the depths of Latina beauty.
The E! News host took to Instagram to share the news. In a post featuring the trailer, Bailon-Houghton stated, “So excited for this incredible project that’s coming to @peacock on November 15th… The Foundation of Belleza! Join me in this docuseries as I uncover beauty rituals passed down through Latin generations! I got to meet with incredible Latina beauty brand founders in @sephora to discover what beauty truly means to our cultura. Trust me, you’re gonna wanna binge this! Streaming only on @peacock, starting November 15th!”
The trailer starts with one of the beauty owners stating, “Why do they think that a Latina-founded beauty brand needs to only be for Latinas? I want to break stereotypes.” Her statement follows Bailon-Houghton’s asking, “What is beauty to us?” Another beauty owner mentions she got started in the beauty industry because of struggles with her skin.
In New York City and Los Angeles, Bailon-Houghton visits three beauty brand owners, Bobba Rivera, Desiree Verdejo, and Carina Chaz. During the four-episode journey, she and the beauty gurus discuss hair rituals in Latine culture. They talk about a future inclusive of all skin tones, personal expression through fragrance, and the generational beauty of Latinidad.
For The Real host, her inspiration behind the series was her experience with trying to fit into the box of what stereotypical beauty looks like in modern-day society.
She posted, “This was such a meaningful project and quite a reflective journey for me. As a 40 year old Latina, I have found I am more confident when I stopped trying to be someone else’s definition of beautiful and started being my own. The Foundation of Belleza is a journey in the wisdom passed down through Latin generations and discovering the meaning of belleza. “
The Foundation of Belleza is Bailon-Houghton’s newest television project since announcing that she would be stepping down from her co-host position on E! News. She’s leaving to shift her “full focus” to being a mom. She mentioned her main challenge was residing in New York but filming a daily series in Los Angeles.
Although not dishing all things pop culture every night, she still runs her luxury brand, LA VOÛTE. She’ll also remain posting on her visual diary, Love Always, Adrienne.
The Foundation of Belleza is available for streaming now, only on Peacock.
