Fans learned the exciting news in an Instagram post: “Meet us on the dance floor #SYTYCD is BACK for Season 18 – Monday, March 4 on @foxtv and next day on @hulu! Drop a comment below if you’ll be tuning in.” In the picture is resident host Cat Deeley, who has been with the series since its inception; however, the judging panel looks slightly different.

Season 17’s panel featured Jojo Siwa, Stephen “tWitch” Boss, and Leah Remini after Matthew Morrison was let go from the panel before the stage component. Fans’ biggest concern was the absence of a ballroom judge, given that ballroom is a staple style performed.

Production heard their concerns because DWTS alum Maks Chmerkovskiy is one of the judges on the panel. Joining Chmerkovskiy is Nigel Lythgoe, who production let go prior to last season despite his longstanding position, SYTYCD alum Allison Holker Boss, and Comfort Fedoke, another SYTYCD alum who will only be present during the audition rounds.

“Reuniting Cat, Nigel, Allison, and Comfort and welcoming Maksim into the SYTYCD family is sure to make Season 18 bigger than ever for their legions of fans around the globe,” stated Fox Entertainment’s President of Unscripted Programming, Allison Wallach.

So You Think is set to take a turn in terms of format, as a personal documentary aspect is expected. In the past, viewers got to know the contestants based on their short rehearsal packages and the final product on stage; however, viewers will now take a deep dive into the contestants’ personal lives.

Another game-changer is the new sets of challenges the contestants will face. Viewers are used to watching two contestants perform an assigned style choreographed by professionals. This upcoming season, contestants will participate in scenarios like performing in music videos and football halftime pieces and competing against Broadway performers.

Season 18 of So You Think You Can Dance premieres on March 4, 2024, only on Fox and next day on Hulu.
