After being postponed due to the SAG-AFTRA strike, the 75th Emmy Awards have found their new host: Anthony Anderson.

Award show hosting has famously been a thankless gig and has become a harder and harder role. Anthony Anderson is now set to host the 2024 Emmy Awards airing on January 15, 2024.

The award ceremony was initially set for an original date in September but was pushed back due to the strike.

Anderson has starred in the popular television series, Black-ish and will be a first-time Emmy’s host. Television’s biggest night will be held at the Peacock Theater in Los Angeles; it will honor the talented performers, writers, directors, and craftspeople who have entertained and inspired viewers around the world this past year.

“With our industry’s recent challenges behind us, we can get back to what we love — dressing up and honoring ourselves. And there is no better celebratory moment to bring the creative community together than the milestone 75th Emmy Awards,” stated Anderson in his recent statement.

He continued, “When FOX asked me to host this historic telecast, I was over the moon that Taylor Swift was unavailable, and now I can’t wait to be part of the biggest night in television.”

It was announced back in August that the 75th Emmys wouldn’t be airing until mid-January of 2024, after being postponed due to the SAG-AFTRA and WGA strikes. Just two days before the SAG-AFTRA strike began, the 2023 Emmy nominations were announced by Television Academy Chairs Frank Scherma and Yvette Nicole Brown.

“Anthony is a multi-talented performer and a great friend to the Television Academy,” noted Academy Chair Scherma at the announcement of the new Emmys host. “We are thrilled that he is hosting what promises to be a rich celebration of a year of outstanding television, as well as 75 years of Emmy excellence!”

Among this year’s nominations, Succession is in the lead with 27 nominations for its fourth and final season on HBO. Succession has more nominations than any other show this year.

The Primetime Emmy Awards will air on Monday, January 15, 2024, at 8 p.m. ET on Fox and will be available the following day on Hulu.
