Nicki Minaj Breaks Record With New No. 1 Album
Nicki Minaj makes history with the most No. 1 Album by a female rapper. Pink Friday 2 would be Minaj’s third album to reach the top of the charts.
Nicki Minaj’s new Pink Friday 2 album had a successful first week, debuting at No. 1 at the top of the Billboard 200 album charts, marking the rapper’s third album to hit No. 1, behind Pink Friday: Roman’s Reloaded (2012) and Pink Friday (2010).
Prink Friday 2 is the fifth studio album released on December 8, also known as “Minaj Day,” as she recently turned 41. Additionally, the release of the new album is the “Everybody” rapper’s first studio album in five years, after debuting her album Queen in 2018.
The new album consists of 22 songs off the tracklist, including “Bahm Bahm,” which almost didn’t make the album as it wasn’t a “fit.” According to Billboard, Minaj previewed the song on Instagram but had doubts about the track on Pink Friday 2.
According to Complex, the “Red Ruby da Sleeze” rapper tied with Foxy Brown before the release of Pink Friday 2.
Moreover, the rapper took to social media via Instagram to express her gratitude and acknowledge the Barbz as the “real MVPs.” She wrote, “Just gratitude & a bit of shock I guess. Barbz, you guys are the real MVP’s & everyone knows it,” she stated.
Meanwhile, the “Queen of Rap” is gearing up for the Pink Friday 2 world tour in 2024, which will kick off on March 1 in Oakland, CA. Minaj will make stops in Las Vegas, New York, Baltimore, Montreal, and Dallas, among other cities.
