Bad Bunny Speaks Out on Making Songs in English
Bad Bunny shares why he strictly performs his songs in Spanish.
Singer Bad Bunny has recently opened up about his commitment to singing in Spanish and how he refuses to make songs in English to reach a specific audience. The star also shared the controversy he faced with his performance and Album of the Year nod at the 2023 Grammys.
The superstar has strictly released his music in Spanish and explained that he plans to continue doing so for the foreseeable future. “I am never going to [sing in English] just because someone says I need to do it to reach a certain audience,” Bad Bunny stated.
The singer clarified that if an opportunity arose with the right song or collaborator, he might sing in English. “It’s not like I hate the idea … It’s just that I feel more comfortable in my own language. I think in Spanish, I feel in Spanish, I eat in Spanish, I sing in Spanish,” he continued.
Bad Bunny recently slammed the Grammy Awards after his performance earlier this year.

During his Grammy Awards performance in February, the singer performed a medley of songs from his hit 2022 album Un Verano Sin Ti.
The performance was notably done without closed captions during the broadcast. Instead, “singing in non-English” appeared on the screen and went viral.
The singer shared that it was “so f—ed up” that he hadn’t even realized what had happened.

“It’s ugly to say that I saw it as normal. Then I was like, wow, wait a minute, what the h*ll? Why don’t they have someone? Knowing that I was going to be there,” mentioned the star in a recent interview. “I sing for those who want to listen to me and those who understand me.”
The superstar, who received three Grammy nominations at the 65 Annual Grammy Awards and brought home the Best Musica Urbana Album award, touched on losing Album of the Year to Harry Styles. “Maybe they weren’t ready for a Spanish-language album to win the big prize,” he stated.
