Jonathan Majors has been found guilty by a Manhattan jury for assaulting his ex-girlfriend, Grace Jabbari, following a domestic dispute earlier this year.

The Marvel actor was convicted on two misdemeanor charges of harassment and assault while being acquitted on two other counts. The woman asserted that the altercation was initiated in the rear of an SUV when she observed that he had received a text from another woman. “Oh how I wish I was kissing you,” the message reportedly read.

There is also a video of Majors running away from his ex-girlfriend circulating online.

The six-member jury acquitted Majors of one charge of intentional assault in the third degree and one count of aggravated harassment in the second degree.

Majors, dressed in a dark gray suit and seated in the courtroom alongside his attorneys and current girlfriend Meagan Good, remained stoic and showed no reaction when the verdict was announced. Judge Michael Gaffey scheduled a sentencing date for Feb. 6. Majors could face a maximum sentence of one year in jail, although there is also the possibility of receiving probation.

Throughout Majors’ trial for abuse, the jury was provided with witness accounts, 911 recordings, surveillance video, and claimed text exchanges between Majors and Jabbari. In one of the messages, Majors purportedly made a threat to take his own life if Jabbari sought medical assistance for injuries resulting from one of their altercations.

“I will probably [k]ill myself,” he allegedly wrote, according to Variety. “It’s not really contemplating any more …I’m a monster. A horrible man. Not capable of love. I am killing myself soon. I’ve already put things in motion.” The verdict dashed Mr. Majors’s aspirations to revive his career by demonstrating innocence in the March altercation.

His prospects in the film industry are now uncertain, and he may confront a sentence of slightly less than a year in jail. The sentencing is slated for February 6.

“Regarding what exactly Jonathan Majors was convicted of, there’s some misinformation out there, including from me,” Meghann Cuniff a Journalist, shared her thoughts on the case on X.

“Both assault charges related to what happened inside the car, and the harassment charges related to what happened outside. He was acquitted on anything having to do with intent.” Cuniff explained how Majors was “convicted related to Jabarri’s finger injury.” Therefore, “the Jury ruled it was reckless but not intentional, but the assault is for the finger injury.”

“The jury convicted Majors of third-degree assault recklessly causing physical injury, and it’s for what happened in the SUV,” Cuniff explained.

In a statement, his attorney, Priya Chaudhry, expressed that he “maintains confidence in the legal proceedings and anticipates the complete vindication of his reputation.” Despite the conviction on a charge related to recklessly causing injury, she conveyed gratitude for the acquittal on the other assault count, which pertained to intentionally causing injury.

“Mr. Majors is grateful to God, his family, his friends, and his fans for their love and support during these harrowing eight months,” Chaudhry stated.

Following the conviction, Marvel and Disney promptly removed the Creed III star from all forthcoming projects, as disclosed by an individual with close ties to the studio.
