Tinder Select is a $499 monthly plan for Tinder’s 1 percent. What will the cost of love be in 2024?

Popular dating app Tinder launched a new costly subscription plan called Tinder Select on Monday, December 18.

Costing a hefty $499, Tinder Select is an invite-only extension of the app. This is the fourth paid subscription plan introduced, following Tinder+, Tinder Gold, and Tinder Platinum.

Gary Swindler, CFO at Tinder’s parent company Match Group, believes Tinder Select will attract a “relatively tiny amount of new payers,” which will have “a significant impact on revenue per payer and ultimately on revenue.”

In order to apply for Tinder Select, existing users are required to have five interests, four pictures, a bio of 15 characters minimum, indicate a relationship goal, and be photo verified.

According to the Tinder website, “Some accounts may be immediately granted access, and some will require a full account review to ensure that the profile is aligned with our community guidelines and terms of use.”

Once accepted into the exclusive subscription plan, what’s new for users?

Tinder Select users have access to these perks: the ability to direct message someone twice a week without having matched them; people will see your profile picture first in the Likes You grid for seven days, even if they don’t have a Gold or Platinum subscription; an exclusive Tinder Select badge; have access to Tinder’s most sought-after profiles; and VIP experience as less than 1 percent of users get accepted.

Since Tinder launched its new subscription, people have jumped on X to express their opinions.

“Imagine paying $500 a month to be lonely,” @MegzMurr wrote.

“Whoever pays that gotta be DESPERATE ASF,” another user @exxotixs commented.

However, some users have contrasting opinions.

“I already bought it,” @CartiersSaint commented.
