Dancing with the Stars pro and judge, Derek Hough, shared that his wife, Hayley Erbert, would undergo surgery on December 20 to replace a portion of her skull.

After being diagnosed with a cranial hematoma, Hayley Erbert underwent an emergency craniectomy earlier this month. Hough provided another update on her road to recovery.

On Wednesday morning, he posted on his Instagram story, “I strongly believe all the prayers that have been sent with the intention and love of Hayley’s recovery has helped so much. I can’t thank you all enough.”

Hough continued, “Please keep her in your prayers as I believe the collective energy helped her through these past few weeks. We love you we thank you.”

On December 16, he revealed that Erbert would need a skull implant following her craniectomy earlier this month.

“It will restore the skull to its natural shape and protect the brain from injury,” the husband wrote.

Within the post, he noted that “Hayley is doing well” and “Her recovery process has been nothing short of a miracle.”

Hayley Erbert’s Health Scare on Tour

On December 6, Erbert started experiencing cranial hematoma symptoms after their Symphony of Dance tour stop in Washington D.C. On his website, Hough disclosed that his spouse was diagnosed with a cranial hematoma resulting from a ruptured blood vessel, necessitating an emergency craniectomy.

To take care of Erbert, the rest of the tour has been postponed.

Her emergency surgery took place on December 7.
