Margot Robbie isn’t ready to give up the fantastic life of plastic just yet. At last night’s Golden Globes, the actress hit the carpet dressed like a replica of the 1977 Superstar Barbie, just in time for the doll’s 50-year anniversary.

Robbie donned a floor-length, hot pink sequined Giorgio Armani Privé gown with a pink tulle boa. When asked if she felt like the doll she portrayed earlier this summer, Robbie stated, “I actually do feel it tonight.”

In true Barbie fashion, the star didn’t forget to accessorize. She paired her ensemble with $3 million of Lorraine Schwartz jewelry, including 30-ct diamond studs and a Golconda diamond ring.

Although Barbie’s run in theaters has wrapped up and moved to streaming, we can expect Robbie to continue fulfilling her commitment to paying homage to the doll during award show season.

“We’re finding Barbie references from decades past and just doing it really for the big Barbie fans out there, people who are actually collecting those Barbies. We’re hoping to get them excited. We’re pairing Barbie references with great designers,” the star discussed.

The Barbie film has brought us a never-ending living doll lookbook with Robbie’s fabulous fits. It never seems to bore us, and Robbie would agree. At the Los Angeles premiere of the film, Robbie spoke to Glitter Magazine, mentioning, Every time we do a new look, I’m just as excited for this as I was the last.”

Much to the fans’ surprise, Barbie did not sweep up trophies, but the film did win the award for Cineamatic and Box Office Achievement. This should be a shock to no one, given the film earned $1.4 billion at the box office as viewers dressed up in their finest pink outfits and went to the “greatest place on Earth.”

During their acceptance speech, Robbie (unphased by the “joke” made earlier in the night) thanked the Golden Globes for creating a category dedicated to the fans. “This is a movie about Barbie, but it’s also a movie about humans. We made it for you, and it’s about love, and thank you for loving it back,” Robbie gushed.

Billie Eilish also took home the globe for Original Song for the tear-jerking single “What Was I Made For,” which once again had audiences hanging onto every word for months.

Barbie may not have been the award show sweep, yet at least, but fans and critics can agree that this was the film we needed this year. Catch up on the 2024 Golden Globes on Paramount+ and rewatch the blockbuster hit Barbie on MAX.
