“Don’t you ever grab a mic and think that me and you competin” is one of the lyrics in Megan Thee Stallion’s new song “HISS,” which is quickly climbing the chart.

This would be the Houston rapper’s first number 1 debuting song as a solo artist. The song was produced by Stallion herself after splitting ways with 300 Entertainment and 1501 Certified in 2023. The artist made this move to release her music independently, under Hot Girl Productions, which she owns.

The visual of “HISS” has been number 1 on YouTube’s music video trending list since its release on Friday, January 26. On Monday it was number 1 on Spotify’s U.S. chart for the first time since its debut. According to Forbes, it has since garnered 1.6 million plays on Spotify in the U.S. alone.

Moreover, the song is number 8 on the Spotify most-streamed list with 1.1 million streams. It continues to rise on the list every day. First to number 5, then fell to number 6, before climbing up the list past its previous number 5 spot, and making it to the number 1 spot.

The single has also excelled in the sales category. It currently places at number 2 on the iTunes America list. As the song becomes more popular by the day, it is speculated from chart data on Twitter that the song will be on the top of the Hot One Hundreds list, which is set to be released next week.

As for Billboard, they reported that the song is growing more popular and gaining more streams by the day.

Furthermore, this could be a huge win for the rapper’s career. Having a solo debut song claim the number 1 spot could potentially gain Hot Girl Productions some attention, being that the label was created late last year, on Nov. 3.

Even though the sound has sparked a lot of controversy in the rap community, we all have to admit that we would love to see this absolute banger of a song on the top of the Hot One Hundred list. You can listen to her songs across all platforms.
