Olivia Rodrigo Performs ‘vampire’ at This Year’s Grammy Awards

Olivia Rodrigo put on a bloody good performance of her GUTS single, "vampire,” at the 66 Grammy Awards. The songstress left behind her previous lavender looks and donned a red satin gown and a red lip to match, complete with her long, soft waves.

Although most of the night’s performers had intro packages discussing their music and hopes for the night, Rodrigo did not. Instead, she got straight into the performance. The production this time around was a complete 180 from her VMA performance late last year. In lieu of the pyro and broken-down sets, Rodrigo remained stationary throughout the performance, only really holding the mic stand.

Her stripped-down performance focused solely on her soft, soulful vocals, encompassing the song’s message. Midway through the performance, though, viewers started to notice drops of blood sliding down the singer’s arm and chest. Shortly after, fake blood started pouring through the wall behind her, keeping in theme with the bloodsucking vampire.

Looking out into the crowd, attendees all through the Crypto Arena were singing along to Rodrigo’s hit, including Taylor Swift herself, whom Rodrigo blew a kiss to after her performance.

Unfortunately, that was the conclusion of Rodrigo’s stage appearances for the night. The “bad idea right?” singer was nominated for the following awards: Album of the Year, Best Pop Vocal Album, Record of the Year, Song of the Year, and Best Rock Song for “ballad of a homeschooled girl.” She did not take home any of the awards she was up for but did win best sportsmanship as she clapped and supported her peers throughout the night.

Even though she didn’t win any awards, fans still believe GUTS is one of the best sophomore albums, as she balances humor, chaos, and heartbreak to showcase teenage emotions that are often overlooked. Nonetheless, Rodrigo is set to begin gearing up for her “GUTS World Tour,” starting on February 23 in Palm Springs.

In the meantime, you can listen to GUTS on all streaming platforms
