All the Information We Know on the 2024 Met Gala

Zendaya, Bad Bunny, J-Lo, Chris Hemsworth, and Vogue‘s editor-in-chief Anna Wintour are this year’s Met Gala co-chairs, with the theme being “The Garden of Time.”

In addition, Loewe’s creative director, Jonathan Anderson, and TikTok’s CEO, Shou Zi Chew, will serve as honorary chairs.

The Met Gala is one of the most important fashion events of the year. All eyes are not only on the vast variety of celebrities who attend it but also on their choices of outfits and the designers behind those pieces. Other than Anna Wintour, the chairpeople of the Met Gala rotate every year.

Offscreen, the award-winning actress Zendaya is known for her incredible style and is seen as a fashion icon by many. Her outfit choices on red carpets are just as appreciated as her street style. She hasn’t attended the Met Gala in 5 years, and people on social media are excited to see her back.

On top of that, she and her stylist and friend, Law Roach, are praised for their incredible choices, not only sticking to the theme of the Met Gala but also going above and beyond to show different ideas and looks.

For instance, in the 2019 Met Gala, the theme was “Camp,” and many celebrities missed the mark on their outfits. But, not Zendaya; she went in a full Cinderella gown that glowed, by Tommy Hilfiger, accompanied by Law Roach dressed as Fairy Godmother. Before that, she had already made incredible appearances at the event. However, this one consolidated her as an “It-Girl” for many people.

Lopez has always been influential in fashion. She is an example of how to rock transparency and cut-outs. Take her outfit from the 1998 MTV Awards. She combined the fashion of the time with a cowboy hat in an all-white fit.

Another co-chair is actor Chris Hemsworth. He may not be big in the fashion game, as this is his first time attending the event, but not every co-chair has had deep connections in the fashion world. Hemsworth is very influential in groups that usually wouldn’t watch the event, but because he is one of the hosts, some of his fans might tune in and follow the event.

Lastly, Puerto Rican musician Bad Bunny rounds out the group. He attended the ball in 2022 and 2023. Both times, his outfits were praised by the public and were out of the ordinary. In the past, he has collaborated with Burberry and Jacquemus. His stylist, Storm Pablo, is credited by many with having made Benito into the fashion icon he is today.

This year’s Met Gala will take place at the Metropolitan Museum of Art in New York City on May 6.
