Meryl Streep Will Return for New Season of Only Murders in the Building
Meryl Streep will return to her role as Loretta Durkin in the upcoming fourth season of the Hulu hit series Only Murders in the Building.
Streep has struck a deal with Hulu to return to the murder mystery comedy for another season. 20th Television President Karey Burke revealed Streep’s return to The Hollywood Reporter in their TV’s Top 5 podcast, where she stated, “Meryl is returning for next season because she had a tremendous time.” The Academy Award-winning actress originally appeared in season three of the series as Loretta Durkin, an actress and love interest for Martin Short’s character, Oliver Putnam.

Fans were unsure whether or not Streep’s character would appear in the new season after the resolution of Ben Gilroy’s murder. Loretta was essential to the third season due to her involvement in the plot surrounding the mysterious death. Still, it was unclear if her romance with Oliver would continue into future seasons.

Now, in light of the announcement of Streep’s return, it seems Oliver and Loretta’s story will continue after all. Viewers will have to wait until the season four premiere to find out what happens to the couple.
The announcement of Streep’s return comes shortly after it was revealed that Saturday Night Live actress Molly Shannon would also join the season four cast. With both actresses making appearances in the new season, the fourth installment of Only Murders in the Building is sure to have great things in store for fans.

Additionally, it was confirmed by Disney Television Group President Craig Erwich that part of the new season will be in Los Angeles. However, it is still unknown whether or not Streep will be a part of that storyline. Season four of the Hulu Original series will revolve around the murder of stuntwoman Sazz Pataki (Jane Lynch).
Although there is no release date for the fourth season of Only Murders in the Building, it is expected to come out sometime this year. Until then, fans can see Streep star in the third season of the crime-solving drama series on Hulu.
