Victoria Monét Confirms New Deluxe Album. Jaguar II
Victoria Monét has confirmed that she is working on a deluxe edition of her album, Jaguar II. In an interview with The New Hit List on YouTube, the three-time Grammy winner states that she will release the deluxe edition this year.
During the thirteen-minute interview, Monét speaks about her work as a singer-songwriter and performer. In 2020, she released her EP, titled Jaguar. In August of 2023, she released her debut album, Jaguar II. Instead of releasing a third version, she will release a deluxe edition. She explains, “I do wanna put out a deluxe ‘Jaguar II.’ We’re working on it right now… This year, it will be this year.” During this interview, Monét confirms fans can expect this new release this year.
Monét’s music has been met with much praise over the last year. Jaguar II specifically has many fan-favorite songs. Some of these include the three singles from the album, “Smoke” featuring Lucky Daye, “Party Girls” featuring Buju Banton, and “On My Mama.”
During the week of its release in August 2023, Jaguar II entered the No. 6 spot on the Billboard Top R&B Albums Chart. The single, “On My Mama” also debuted at No. 98 on the Hot 100 when the album was released. Monét won three Grammys at the 2024 Grammy Awards, Jaguar II won for Best R&B Album and Best Engineered Album, Non-Classical. She also took home the award for Best New Artist.
The musician has been a presence in music for years. Monét first entered the music industry as a songwriter. She has written for people like Ariana Grande, Chole x Halle, Fifth Harmony, and others. Monét even featured in Ariana Grande’s song, “Monopoly” which was released in 2019. The song appeared on the Billboard Hot 100 at No. 70. This was Monét’s first time entering the charts as a featured artist.
In an interview with Vulture, the “On My Mama” singer explains the writing process for Jaguar and Jaguar II. “I feel like I’ve discovered so much about myself in this process, even subconsciously — what my aesthetic is, what colors make me comfortable, what type of people I want to be around me, what type of music really inspires me.” The process that Monét used to write and produce this album leaves many fans excited for what is to come with the Deluxe edition of her album.
