Wendy Williams’ New Frontotemporal Dementia and Aphasia Diagnosis
The former radio show and talk show host, Wendy Williams’ medical team and state-appointed guardian, has revealed she has been diagnosed with two different conditions within the past year.
Wendy Williams’ medical team and state-appointed guardian have come forward to reveal that she was diagnosed with Frontotemporal Dementia (FTD) and Aphasia in 2023. FTD is a type of dementia that affects cognitive functions and can lead to changes in a person’s speech and behavior. Aphasia is a subtype of FTD, and this condition affects a person’s speech and communication, meaning they can have trouble understanding a language and their writing.

Williams has always been open about her medical conditions, going on to talk about her experience with Lymphedema and Graves’ disease. This news comes ahead of her two-part documentary, which premiered this past Saturday, in which she delved further into her health struggles.

In a statement Williams’ team put out on her behalf, she expressed her gratitude before the titular documentary premiered.
“I want to say I have immense gratitude for the love and kind words I have received after sharing my diagnosis of Aphasia and Frontotemporal Dementia (FTD). Let me say, wow! Your response has been overwhelming. The messages shared with me have touched me, reminding me of the power of unity and the need for compassion.”
Many fans have taken to Twitter to reminisce on some of their favorite moments with the former talk show personality and to express concern over the docuseries as her health and well-being under her state-appointed guardian has come under fire with the deteriorated state of the media maven.
Wendy Williams is a pop culture icon. She’s given us so many memes & fun moments. Has she always been right? No. But seeing her lose her memory & be destroyed by an illness is heartbreaking. Nobody deserves this https://t.co/leU7xoVqtF
