Grande has released the tracklist for her upcoming album, Eternal Sunshine, which drops on March 8. It will come with thirteen songs, including her hit single, “yes, and?” After four years, this will be her next album following Positions, which came out in 2020. Since the announcement, questions arose regarding the absence of her leaked song “Fantasize.” Despite its illegal release, the song ended up going viral on TikTok. Many videos that used this song have gained over 100k likes.

In her interview with Zach Sang, Grande explains her reactions to the leaks. She states that the song from her studio session was not for her; it was written for an unnamed TV series. The singer emphasizes her frustration by calling the people who leaked the songs “thieves, pirates, crooks.” Grande continues, stating, “I’ll pay you more to put it away, to get it back.” She equates it to a “parody of like a 90’s girl group vibe.” Furthermore, Grande explains that she does not want the song publicly out since it was not originally for her.

Due to the public reception of the song, the singer-songwriter is finding a way to incorporate themes of “Fantasize” into Eternal Sunshine. In the Zach Sang Show, Grande reveals that she is finding a way to make this song a new version of itself. She phrases it as “Ariana’s Version.”

While the versions will be completely different, fans can expect the leaks to be present in this new album. The Wicked star explains, “Some of those seedling ideas from that time actually made their way onto the album… but they’re completely different now so although you’ve heard them because you stole them again, they’re very different now.” Grande emphasizes that she is reclaiming her work for this new album. She is making it so that the stolen versions of her songs make it into the public eye. This time, it will be on her terms.
