Camila Cabello Reveals Why Rekindling With Shawn Mendes Ended Suddenly
“Señorita” singer, Camila Cabello, recently opened up about breaking up with her ex, Shawn Mendes, after rekindling their relationship.
During an episode of the Call Her Daddy podcast, the singer revealed that she was a fan of reconciling with an ex. “I opted for that route. It is what it is. It was a great route. It was a fun time. It was a fun moment,” the singer stated.
The musicians began dating in September 2019 after collaborating on their first duet, “I Know What You Did Last Summer,” four years prior and their second duet, “Señorita,” in 2019. While dating, the couple adopted a puppy named Tarzan in November 2020. Shawn also lived with Camila and her family during the pandemic. However, their romance lasted until 2021, when they announced their break via Instagram Stories.
The post read, “Hey guys, we’ve decided to end our romantic relationship, but our love for one another as humans is stronger than ever. We started our relationship as best friends and will continue to be best friends. We so appreciate your support from the beginning and moving forward.”
During Coachella 2023, the pair were spotted kissing in the crowd, which sparked rumors of them rekindling their relationship. They were then spotted multiple times during early 2023, including at a Taylor Swift concert, until they broke up again in June 2023.

The “Havana” singer expressed to the host, Alex Cooper, that the lack of chemistry was what led to them breaking up the second time. “You’re just kind of like, it’s not a fit. It doesn’t feel right. Luckily, I was in a place in my life where it took me less time to realize that. It took us both less time to be like, ‘This doesn’t feel right, and we don’t really need to try so hard to make it work. It’s all good,’” the songstress mentioned.
The 27-year-old also made it clear that she doesn’t plan on getting back together with Mendes and that there is no bad blood between them, stating, “I will always care about him and love him. He’s such a good person, and I’m lucky cause some people have exes that are awful, and he is not. He’s a really kind, good person.”
