Country icon Dolly Parton revealed that a cover of her 1973 hit “Jolene” might make an appearance on Beyoncé’s upcoming album.

In a recent interview, the “9 to 5” singer shared with Knox News that she believes a cover of her iconic song is in the works as part of Beyoncé’s Cowboy Carter album. Parton explained, “I think she has! I think she’s recorded ‘Jolene’ and I think it’s probably gonna be on her country album, which I’m very excited about that.”

Beyoncé has been hinting at a country era for her next project for a while, with fans noticing her new style at the Grammys in February. Recently, she announced the full title of the album, Act II: Cowboy Carter, on her website. Her highly anticipated eighth studio album comes out on March 29 and is suspected to draw inspiration from the country genre.

So far, the singer has released two country-influenced singles, “TEXAS HOLD ‘EM” and “16 CARRIAGES.” “TEXAS HOLD ‘EM” soared to the top of the Billboard Hot 100, becoming her ninth single to reach the number one spot.

Now, Beyoncé will possibly continue that inspiration by paying homage to a country legend as she covers Parton’s song “Jolene.”

Parton expressed her respect for the “Formation” singer, describing her as “a beautiful girl and a great singer.” “We’ve kind of sent messages back and forth through the years. And she and her mother were like fans,” she explained. “I was always touched that they were fans, and I always thought she was great,” the singer continued.

When Beyoncé first announced her follow-up to Renaissance, Parton shared her support in an Instagram post. The artist wrote, “I’m a big fan of Beyoncé and very excited that she’s done a country album. So congratulations on your Billboard Hot Country number one single. Can’t wait to hear the full album!”

Parton then further commented on the artist’s switch to country music. “A lot of people don’t realize Beyonce is a country girl. She’s from Texas,” she asserted. The singer-songwriter expressed, “I think we belong wherever we can do good, and her song is number one across every chart in the whole world, I think. So, I mean, who can argue with that?”

Due to the lyrics of the song, some fans speculate that the cover will have a connection to Beyoncé’s 2016 album Lemonade

Fans will have to wait until March 29 to see if “Jolene” makes an appearance on Cowboy Carter, but they can stream Beyoncé’s singles “TEXAS HOLD ‘EM” and “16 CARRIAGES” in the meantime.
