Kesha ventures into new music after officially settling her lawsuit with Dr. Luke. After nineteen years under Dr. Luke’s record label, Kemosabe Records, Kesha is celebrating her newfound freedom and voice.

“Freedom, I’ve been waiting for you. Everything’s changed now, we haven’t talked in a while,” she sang on her Instagram Live.

Kesha made several hints about her newfound freedom earlier this month, with cryptic Instagram and Twitter posts alluding to a new era.

The 37-year-old artist has come a long way in her musical career. In 2005, the artist was signed to Dr. Luke’s label at only 18 years old. She filed a lawsuit against the producer in 2014 over defamation and sexual abuse claims during the height of her career. For nine years, the producer allegedly drugged her and psychologically tormented her.

Despite the hardships she faced in the grueling music industry, the “Praying” singer has built a household name for herself and still has a popular presence in the present-day music industry.

Originally going by the name and swaggy persona-style of Ke$ha in the early 2010s, the artist launched a successful career of club hits, starting with “TikT ok.” From there, the artist went on to have other hits such as “Blow,” “Backstabber,” “Your Love is My Drug,” and the iconic hit collaboration with Pitbull, “Timber.”

Since then, Kesha has transformed into a more mature version of her past life in music. Last May, the artist released Gag Order, her fifth studio album. The album also marks her last project being produced and released under her contract with Dr. Luke and his record company.

With notable songs, such as “Only Love Can Save Us Now,” the artist announced a tour under the same name. Hitting popular spots across the country, such as Hard Rock Live Orlando, Kesha performed in smaller venues for a more intimate experience with her “Animals,” the nickname for her fanbase.

Fast forward a year later, and she now has her own creative freedom for her next lineup of upcoming projects and music. “We have a lot of catching up to do animals,” the artist tweeted with a series of grainy photos taken among nature.

Fans should get excited about the new era of the iconic pop star, as new music is on its way much sooner than we think. For now, you can listen to Gag Order wherever you stream music.
