Zoe Levert Magically Serenaded by Dan + Shay on The Voice
20-year-old Zoe Levert from New Orleans, Lousiana, stepped onto the stage of The Voice this season, pouring her heart out to Taylor Swift’s version of “Better Man.”
At the last second of her performance, John Legend made a last-minute turn, and Levert is officially on season 25 of The Voice. While Levert is grateful and excited to be on Team Legend, she can’t help but feel a twinge of disappointment that she didn’t catch the attention of Dan + Shay, her favorite country-pop duo.
Additionally, Levert shared how her wedding is coming up next year with her fiancé, Ryan, and they chose Dan + Shay’s “From the Ground Up” as their first dance song, and the atmosphere in the room immediately changed as Dan + Shay quickly rose from their chairs.
The excitement peaked when Levert’s fiancé, Ryan, who was watching from backstage, got invited to join them on stage. Dan grabbed a guitar, and Shay mentioned, “We gotta have a moment here,” as they began to serenade the couple. They danced tenderly, almost as if it were a rehearsal.
Zoe Levert dancing to Dan & Shay singing From The Ground Up. I learned this to do for a wedding one time. But I sure didn't sing it like that. #TheVoice #VoiceBlinds Beautiful television morning. Shay SLAYED the HOUSE down BOOTS!! lol— Robert Anton (@SoUWanaBaSinger) March 12, 2024
Emotions run high for everyone on set. “Now, I’m gonna cry. This is a great moment,” Chance the Rapper stated from his chair. He proceeded to capture the moment on film, resembling a proud parent.
Shay called out to the audience and asked if anyone was ordained to officiate the impromptu ceremony. This gets a laugh out of the crowd. As the duo began to sing, the other coaches sat back, watching the beautiful moment unfold. Tears are shed as the magic of music and love fills the air.
Back to business, the “Sunday Candy” singer told the contestant how happy he is that she is on Team Legend because “I don’t think there’s a better coach for vocal improvement and working on breath control.”
It was a big and exciting night for Levert, as she received both a heartfelt wedding serenade and an opportunity on The Voice stage. However, it’s clear which one truly ignites her excitement.
Check out season 25 of The Voice on Mondays at 8/7c on NBC or Peacock.
