How to Appreciate Djo’s Hit Song ‘End of Beginning’
If you have found yourself on the viral app TikTok in the past few weeks, chances are you have heard Djo’s “End of Beginning,” a song filled with nostalgia.
The man behind the moniker Djo is none other than Joe Keery. Viewers know him best for his role as Steve Harrington in Stranger Things. While he has been releasing music since 2019, the song “End of Beginning” from his 2022 album Decide rose with TikTok popularity this year.

The song has over a million video creations within the app and has reached number 23 on the Billboard Hot 100. Many have used the song to appreciate the beauty of Chicago, given the song’s lyrics, “And when I’m back in Chicago / I feel it”.
Keery is an alumnus of DePaul University in Chicago. He got his start in the music scene before moving to Los Angeles and starring in Stranger Things.
“It’s about what it means to grow up and look back at a section of your life and kind of yearn for that, but then also to have a deep appreciation for what happened,” Keery explained to Variety. “It’s kind of a similar thing I was going through when I was looking back at my time in Chicago. It’s like the end of a period of my life,” he continued.
Keery disclosed to Variety that there will be new Djo music on the way. Not to mention, the final season of Stranger Things.

When asked about his emotions surrounding the hit show’s final season, he described it as “bittersweet.” The series was only a debut for the budding star. Since then, fans have seen him in Free Guy, Fargo, and Spree.
