Jerry Seinfeld will make his directorial debut and star in his upcoming film Unfrosted, a comedy based on the origin of Pop-Tarts.

Netflix released the official trailer for the comedy, giving fans an exciting first look at the star-studded cast and storyline. Seinfeld also wrote the picture.

An official poster for the upcoming Pop-Tart comedy was also released. It features the cast members in costume and some graphics, including an explosion, a Kellogg’s truck, and a light-up sign labeled 1963 Bowl and Spoon Awards.

The story of Unfrosted will be a fictional comedy about Kellogg’s and Post, two rival cereal brands, as they race to invent a new sweet breakfast pastry that becomes the Pop-Tart.

As Netflix acknowledges in an article, Seinfeld has had the idea of a Pop-Tart film since 2010, where he would joke about writing one. Then, as years passed, he began seriously thinking about the story, writing it, and bringing it to life.

Looking at the film’s cast list, it is sure to be exciting. Some of the world’s biggest actors and comedians will appear on screen, with fan favorites everywhere.

The cast includes Melissa McCarthy (Bridesmaids), Jerry Seinfeld (Seinfeld), Hugh Grant (Notting Hill), Amy Schumer (I Feel Pretty), Dan Levy (Schitt’s Creek), James Marsden (Dead to Me), Jim Gaffigan (Peter Pan & Wendy), Max Greenfield (New Girl), and Christian Slater (Heathers).

Fans already share their excitement for the upcoming film and A-list cast on social media. A few even refer to the iconic cast as the new Oppenheimer, but for comedy lovers.

Seinfeld will portray a boss at Kellogg’s, Grant will be Tony the Tiger, the mascot of “Frosted Flakes,” and Marsden will portray the Godfather of Fitness, Jack LaLanne. Most other character names have not yet been revealed, but fans can glimpse their roles in the trailer.

Spike Feresten, Andy Robin, and Barry Marder are among the writers who joined Seinfeld on this project. Seinfeld will also produce and direct. The Production Company is Columbus 81 Productions.

Seinfeld was featured on The Tonight Show, Starring Jimmy Fallon last week, where he exclusively talked about the upcoming film and what the audience could expect. He chatted about how Grant joined the cast as Tony the Tiger.

The release date is May 3, and it will be released on Netflix. You can watch the official trailer for Unfrosted below.
