New Plot Details About Freaky Friday Sequel Have Been Revealed
The creators of the upcoming Freaky Friday sequel have announced some new potential plot points. However, Anna Coleman (Lindsay Lohan) and her mother Tess (Jamie Lee Curtis) will not switch bodies again. Instead, they will be switching bodies with two new teenage girls.
The gifted Nisha Ganatra, well-known for her work on Late Night, will direct the upcoming film. Recently, she posted an intriguing casting call on her Instagram story in order to find the ideal actor to portray Anna’s 14 year old daughter, Harper.
The casting call described Harper as “a tomboy with a sharp sense of humor.” Additionally, it depicted her character as “in a bit of a mood these days because her longtime single mom is set to marry British restaurateur Eric Davis.”
This new character, Eric, also seems to have a daughter the same age as Harper, named Lily. It appears that Harper and Lily do not “see eye to eye” with one another, even though they are about to be part of the same family.
Entertainment Weekly obtained the audition sides, including eight script pages, and sent them to prospective stars. The sides indicate that this is a “body swap scene” and that Harper needs to channel “Anna” while Lily should channel “Tess.”
Harper’s character details include how “she wants things to go her way and would like to see things go her way and use her intelligence to stop this marriage from ever happening.” The script also stresses how Harper’s performance “should be grounded, emotional, and as natural as possible.”
Some other scenes in the script feature a beach clean-up scene where the body swapped Harper and Lilly, where Tess, in Lily’s body, voices to Anna, in Harper’s body, that she is afraid of Anna moving away to London after her marriage.
Moreover, viewers will also see Anna and Tess still in their swapped teenage bodies, where Anna reveals to her mother that she feels as though she lost touch with her teenage self, who famously was the lead guitarist in her band.
Despite Entertainment Weekly getting ahold of the script sides, whether these scenes will be included in the movie or just part of the audition script is unknown.
Fans are already looking forward to this highly anticipated sequel.
I'm so glad that Freaky Friday is going to have a sequel with Lindsay Lohan and Jamie Lee Curtis! The two of them were magic together. If there’s any reason I like the remake better than the original, it’s getting to see all of the mother-daughter scenes between the two compared… pic.twitter.com/reH4AW3OQM
