Lauren London recently posted a tribute on Instagram dedicated to her late partner, rapper Nipsey Hussle, five years after his passing.

“If you know me, you know March is always tough for me, 31 days of holding my breath. This day decided to fall on Easter Sunday this 2020. Interesting…considering your name, #GodWillRise. Energy never dies. I love you. Eternal,” the actress stated in her post.

The rapper was killed on March 31, 2019, after being shot in front of his store, Marathon Clothing. The rapper left behind two children: Emani who he shared with an ex and Kross who he had with London.

Following his death, his killer, Eric R. Holder, was sentenced to 60 years to life on September 15, 2022, after being found guilty of first-degree murder.

Hussle has been honored posthumously with a Hollywood Walk of Fame star. The rapper was honored in the Recording category and received the 2,729 star. He will also be memorialized with a docuseries, which is being financed by Lebron James’ media studio, Spring Hill.

During his life, Hussle was known and loved not only as a rapper but also as an activist. He was affectionately called “Neighborhood Nip” by his community members and was heavily involved in efforts to give back to his community. His efforts included partnering with Vector90 to launch a STEM initiative for youth of color called ‘Too Big To Fail.’ He also purchased a shopping plaza intending to establish affordable housing and spaces for businesses that would hire individuals from marginalized communities. Unfortunately, Hussle’s philanthropic ventures were halted by his tragic death.

“I just want to give back in an effective way. I remember being young and really having the best intentions and not being met on my efforts,” he once stated in an interview with the LA Times. “You’re like ‘I’m going to really lock into my goals and my passion, and my talents,’ but you see no industry support. You see no structures or infrastructure built and you get a little frustrated.”

Fans can continue to support his legacy by streaming his music on all platforms.
