Reese Witherspoon is partnering with Prime Video to create a fresh and contemporary Legally Blonde series that will delight existing fans and new viewers.

Information about the series has not been revealed. However, fans know that the renowned actress will collaborate with the talented duo of writers Josh Schwartz and Stephanie Savage, both recognized for their work on the popular series Gossip Girl.

The only available information regarding the upcoming series indicates that it takes place “in the universe of” the Legally Blonde films, promising to immerse viewers in the beloved world they have come to know and adore.

The Legally Blonde actress is currently producing the series in collaboration with Hello Sunshine, a media company she established to empower women. Hello Sunshine provides a platform for women to share and rejoice in their stories and offers support to help them succeed in every aspect of their lives.

Additionally, Hello Sunshine is part of Candle Media. Witherspoon is also set to produce the series with known film producer Lauren Neustadter (Where the Crawdads Sing) executively.

In 2001, Legally Blonde opened in theaters, initiating a tale that captured hearts worldwide. The actress portrayed Elle Woods, a stylish and endearing sorority sister who decides to attend Harvard Law School to prove herself to her ex-boyfriend. Elle surprises everyone, including herself, by demonstrating great ability and passion for the legal profession.

The original picture triumphed at the box office, grossing over $140 million worldwide. This success facilitated the release of a follow-up film, Legally Blonde 2: Red, White, and Blonde, in 2003. Later, a third installment was released straight to video in 2009, with Witherspoon holding a producer role rather than reprising her character from the first movie.

Furthermore, in 2007, a vibrant stage musical based on the original film premiered on Broadway. Notably, this musical version captivated spectators and earned nominations for several esteemed awards, including nods from the Tony and Drama Desk Award committees.

Meanwhile, viewers can watch Legally Blonde on Prime Video.
