BeReal announces a new feature called RealEvents that will start at the Coachella festival.

Sharing moments of our day is a critical element of BeReal; when spending time on social media, we often miss out on what’s happening in real life.

This new feature in the app will allow anyone to join, whether they are there or watching from a distance.

In addition, The brand noted that Tinashe would be one of many celebrities for its first event at none other than Coachella.

Each act will have its notification in addition to the BeReal notification for anyone following the RealEvent.

Additionally, all attendees (in person or virtually) can share and view posts in the custom RealEvent timeline.

Each event will have a timeline with a shareable video recap showing the best moments.

BeReal claims that this will create a shared connection for everyone participating in the RealEvent via a unique moment in time together.

After Coachella, BeReal will accept varying event partners, from intimate concerts to sports arenas, fashion shows, movie premieres, and more.

The platform notes in a blog post that many celebrities will participate in the activation at Coachella to kick off the new feature.

On February 6, celebrities and brands could officially join regular BeReal users. They will have verified accounts and appear as “real people” or “RealBrands.”

Furthermore, regular app users can follow these official pages as “RealFans” and engage with them by tagging them in posts; the celebrities and brands can then re-share their fans’ posts in their feeds.

The chief operating officer, Romain Salzman, asserted, “You’re going to discover what the biggest celebrities are doing behind the scenes at the exact same time as you.”

However, BeReal differs from TikTok and Instagram in that celebrities and brands cannot edit their posts with filters, nor will they be able to pre-plan or schedule their posts.

Salzman added, “We wanted to be aligned with our DNA and the way to do that was to make sure that the celebrities and brands play by the exact same rule as the users do.”

If you want to share in the fun, you can join the event here.
