New Updates on SpongeBob Movie: Search for SquarePants
New information on SpongeBob Movie: Search for SquarePants has been announced. The film will be released in late 2025 with a deeper look into the Flying Dutchman.
Get ready to dive under the sea into Bikini Bottom in SpongeBob’s newest film, SpongeBob Movie: Search for SquarePants.
In this film, viewers will follow SpongeBob as he travels to the depths of the ocean to face off with the Flying Dutchman. The release date is December 19, 2025, right in time for the holiday season. The original voice cast for SpongeBob (Tom Kenny), Patrick (Bill Fagerbakke), Squidward (Rodger Bumpass), Mr. Krabs (Clancy Brown), Sandy (Carolyn Lawrence), and Plankton (Mr. Lawrence) will return for their roles.

The first film, The Spongebob Squarepants Movie, was released in 2004. When Mr.Krabs is accused of stealing King Neptune’s crown, SpongeBob and his best friend, Patrick, are sent on a mission by the King’s daughter, Princess Mindy. They travel to Shell City to retrieve the crown and clear Mr. Krabs’s name.
While on their journey, Plankton, responsible for the stolen crown, steals the Krabby Patty Formula and enslaves all of Bikini Bottom. After a treacherous voyage, the duo returns with the crown. They free the captives from Plankton and return the crown to King Neptune.
The SpongeBob Movie: Sponge Out of Water premiered in 2015. When the pirate Burger Beard steals the Krabby Patty secret formula, SpongeBob, Patrick, Squidward, Mr. Krabs, and Sandy set foot on land to reclaim the lost recipe.
They forge an unlikely alliance with their nemesis, Plankton. They discover that to defeat supervillain Burger Beard, they must become superheroes. With their new superhero abilities, they conquer Burger Beard and get the formula back.

In 2021, the third film, The SpongeBob Movie: Sponge on the Run, dropped in the U.S. SpongeBob and Patrick go on a rescue mission to save Gary, whom King Posideon and Plankton kidnapped and took to the Lost City of Atlantic City. Posideon took Gary to keep away wrinkles. They journey to the city with the help of some friends and retrieve Gary.
