Paul Mescal And Pedro Pascal Battle In New Gladiator 2
The upcoming sequel to the cult classic Gladiator 2 is coming. The cast includes actors from the original and additions like Paul Mescal and Pedro Pascal.
In the four-day event in Las Vegas, CinemaCon, industry members saw the trailer for the film firsthand. However, the trailer is still not available to the public. Also, the event had many significant revelations and exclusive information from the film industry.

Mescal is taking the torch from Russell Crowe as the lead actor in the series. The project has the same director as the original film, Ridley Scott. Moreover, the budget for Gladiator 2 is over two times larger than the budget for the original, being over 300 million dollars.
Furthermore, Mescal’s character, Lucius, is “a nobleman who has renounced his privilege and finds himself in a life-and-death struggle for the amusement of the Roman people,” according to Variety. In addition, he is Maximus (Russell Crowe) and Lucilla’s (Connie Nielsen) son, creating a connection between the original and upcoming films.
Part of the original cast is returning, including Connie Nielsen, Djimon Hounsou, and Derek Jacobi. The additions include Oscar winner Denzel Washington, Barry Keoghan, and Joseph Quinn. Additionally, Quinn was awarded the Breakthrough Performer award at CinemaCon this year.

The trailer reportedly features scenes of Mescal and Pascal dueling, Washington as the mastermind pulling the strings, and Quinn as a crazy emperor who some say could be even more sinister than Joaquin Phoenix’s character from the first film.
“Rome must fall, I need only to give it a push,” is a quote from Denzel Washington’s character from the preview.

The only image released to the public from the preview is the film’s logo. The event happened in the Caesars Palace in Las Vegas, and the hotel’s architecture is inspired by the Coliseum, where the film takes place. Accordingly, the film’s marketing used the building’s structure and decorations to add to the promotion of the film. They placed a sculpture holding a shield with the film’s logo in the hotel.
Gladiator 2 is coming to theaters on November 22. In the meantime, the original can be streamed on Paramount+.
