A rumored video of Edie Falco and the late James Gandolfini reprising their roles as the iconic Tony and Carmela Soprano has resurfaced. Fans of the award-winning series were elated by the news.

The video was privately produced back in 2010, three years after the series finale ended. The project acts as an attempt to lure NBA basketball star LeBron James to the New York Knicks. Falco revealed on a podcast that she reunited with her on-screen husband in hopes that James would come to New York. In 2010, James would go on to become a free agent after his contract with the Cleveland Cavaliers ended. Many teams sought the star player, and New York was also eyeing him.

Falco admitted that she was surprised that Gandolfini would agree to the project, stating, “We got those requests all the time back then and [James] Gandolfini, he did nothing. And somehow, he agreed to this thing, which I was shocked by. I thought it was a prank when someone said he’s going to do it…[and then] there he was, dressed as Tony. He must have been a bigger basketball fan than I realized.”

Despite their reunion video, James ultimately went on to play for the Miami Heat. Falco expressed shock that the project did not work, revealing, “I couldn’t believe that it didn’t work. Not so much because of ‘The Sopranos.’ I just thought, it’s New York. How does anyone say no to New York, for God’s sake? But he did!”

The Sopranos ended in 2007 after six seasons and 86 episodes. The series won a whopping 21 Primetime Emmy Awards across its historic run.
