Nigerian singer Tems recently released a trailer for her debut album, Born in the Wild, on Instagram.

The trailer arrives the day after her Coachella performance, for which she brought out Justin Bieber and Wizkid. It features visuals of Nigeria and flashbacks of her childhood. The one-minute clip was captioned, “Born in the Wild. The Album. May 2024.”

The singer-songwriter first gained prominence in 2020 after being featured on “Essence” by Wizkid. Since then has released popular songs, such as “Free Mind” and “Higher.” She was born in Lagos, Nigeria, and at 28 years old, she is a Grammy Award winner and an Oscar nominee. Tems won a Grammy alongside Drake and Future for their song “Wait For U,” she was nominated for an Oscar for Rihanna’s “Lift Me Up,” which she wrote. In October 2023, an accomplished artist released her single “Me & U,” followed by “Not an Angel” in December 2023.

In March she performed “Not an Angel” for the first time at Billboard Women in Music in a stunning white bedazzled hooded dress. After her performance, the young musician accepted the Breakthrough Award, presented by Savannah James.

“I really want to use this opportunity to say to all the women in the room, in the world, that no matter what you’re going through, you should know you’re not alone. So even when you’re sad, even when you’re angry, there’s someone that’s angry, too. So, uplift everybody around you because they need that like you and somebody’s there for you. It’s the women that got the women, trust me,” the songwriter stated in her acceptance speech.

Fans expressed their excitement for her long-anticipated album in the Instagram comment section, with one fan stating, “I already know this is going to heal me.”

Another fan commented, “And then suddenly the year got better.”

Like her fans, we are excited to listen to Born in the Wild and, until then, stream her available music on all platforms.
